Types of Assistance
The trustee can consider assistance with what the Indiana Law defines as "basic necessity". If an applicant has been determined eligible for township assistance, the Trustee will provide such assistance in the most economical and practical manner, in accordance with our guidelines. Assistance may be provided for any of the following basic necessities:
- Shelter Assistance
- Essential Utility Service
- Food Assistance
- Household Essentials
- Transportation to seek and accept employment
- Burials and Funerals
- Medical Care
- Other Services of Items the Trustee determines are necessities
Regardless of the request or date payment is due, the application process must be followed. Be mindful of the due dates on your rent and utilities! The application process is the same regardless of disconnects and/or evictions. Do not wait until the day of disconnect or the day of an eviction notice to apply for assistance.
Read through the application process section to understand how township assistance works.
